Excerpt from A Short and Plain Way to the Faith and Church
It is intended that the third and ensuing volumes shall appear at less distant intervals, and that each, on an average, shall be much larger than the present. In the mean time, the humble efforts, now made to republish such of the more valuable works of the Catholic writers of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries as may be considered suitable to the present times, will, it is hoped, meet with sufficient encouragement from the public, to enable the projectors of this design to carry out their intentions to the extent originally proposed.
