This story was inspired by a real incident in the life of the author. She and her husband were truck drivers for eighteen years and hauled trailers with a big, purple truck all over the United States. One day, they found out they had a mouse in the cab of their truck when it ran down the author’s arm as they drove along. Of course, she was quite startled and when she calmed down she made up this story about the incident, trying to imagine the event from the mouse’s point of view. The attached proposal has some rough sketches of how the book might be illustrated to go along with the story and an idea at the end for how to use it as a teaching tool. The story lends itself to educational themes about geography and commerce for use in the classroom or with home school programs. It is the first story in a series of nine charming stories that the author has written about the adventurous little mouse and his family.
