The old center has been inhabited at least since the VI century B.C. from the Greeks who mastered its first outstanding urban layout that still exist nowadays. Most of the ancient remains have been embedded into newer buildings or are bared underground. A stratified district of nearly 3000 years of human activities will be unveiled with the help of your tour guide. The pedestrian areas are filled with small shops and workshops, cafes and restaurants, buskers and street vendors that attract locals and foreigners every day. In this setting, a taste of locals’ staple food is a must. There will be a tasting of: Neapolitan pizza, included on UNESCO’s list of intangible cultural heritage, in its fried or wallet version; sfogliatella, a crunchy pastry filled with a base of ricotta cheese or, alternatively babà , a cake originated in Poland in 1725; espresso coffee in its Neapolitan style; and limoncello, a liqueur typical of the Sorrento and Amalfi coast.
