Excerpt from Guidelines for Monitoring Shore Protection Structures in the Great Lakes

This report is published to assist in the collection of reliable, quantitative data on the behavior of shore erosion control structures in the Great Lakes. Although these guidelines are oriented for use in the Great Lakes, many features are applicable to any coastal zone. The work in preparing these guidelines was carried out under the coastal construction research program of the u.s. Army Coastal Engineering Research Center (cerc).

This report was prepared by the staff of the Engineering Develop ment Division of cerc. Special acknowledgment is expressed to Messrs. Dennis W. Berg and Adrian J. Combe III for their technical contributions to these guidelines. The guidelines were reviewed in the early stage of preparation by the u.s. Army Engineer Division, North Central, Corps of Engineers; comments and suggestions from the Division Engineer, North Central, were incorporated into the final report.
