Excerpt from Museum Stories for Children, Vol. 5: February-April, 1926
The two wild mice of our groves and fields are the meadow mouse and the white-footed mouse. The meadow mouse cuts little inch wide paths through the deep grasses as he hunts for food and water. The white-footed mouse lives much as squirrels do: and he may often be found nesting in deserted bird-nests. He usually sleeps during the day; but you may see him in cloudy weather.
