Excerpt from New England Conservatory of Music Concert Programs: October 1872-June 1873
In the Piano and Organ Classes, pupils should seat themselves in the best position for seeing the keyboard, and if at too great a distance to follow the notes from the player’s copy, Should hold the music in their hands, and carefully observe the manner in which each note and phrase is rendered. The same rule should be observed by vocal and violin pupils.
If the course marked out is faithfully pursued, each lesson will be a real advance upon its predecessor, and progress will be rapid and thorough.
