In the fun new children’’s book Nina in the Forest of Faces, Nina and her friends are having an adventure-filled weekend at Nina’’s holiday home in a Barrier Island off New Zealand. Five-year-old Nina is summoned to the Forest of Faces by Mr. Wee-E, a nattily dressed mouse. The legend is that many moons ago this forest was bewitched by the mean old forest keeper, Mr. ToadNose, and that those who enter may never come out! Nina has been put in a trance by Mr. Wee-E, who was the forest keeper’’s best friend before he turned into a sad and mean man, caused by the death of his wife. Nina is the forest’’s last chance to break the spell it has been put under. Meanwhile, Nina’’s friends search the forest for her. Once Nina enters the mysterious Forest of Faces where nothing moves, Mr. Wee-E becomes her companion and protector, helping her complete her mission. After a long search, she meets the people who have had spells put on them, and finally encounters Mr. ToadNose. Eventually, Nina’’s friends and her Papa Jim turn up after a long and scary night in the forest, to see if Nina is safe and has worked her own magic.
