Excerpt from Poets All
Poets are of so many sorts. Some few have, im planted In their breasts, a genuine poetical feeling, which they have also the power of expressing. Others have the feeling without the power - sometimes with out even the wish - to give utterance to it. Some, and these by far the largest portion, resemble machines in their capacity for assimilating any raw material which seems likely to yield the necessary staple. Bees wander far afield in search of honey, and some bees are so clever as to extract it from the most unpromising flowers. If these last, however, did not contain honey the cleverest bee would have to return empty to the hive. So likewise would the poets who are dependent upon others for their raw material.
