He was born in the autumn of 1805, the eldest son of pious parents, members of the Established Church of England, Who carefully brought up their children as consistent members Of the-same. Without doubt, the piety, loving tenderness, and practical self-denial, of his home life, in childhood and youth, much influenced the integrity of his manhood, and the Christian ripeness of hiszlater years.
