The pretty little milk jug began its life in a winter of the mid-1800s, Bavaria. As a classic staple of teatime around the world, placed usually in the hub of a home; the kitchen, the jug is privy to its various owners’ personal lives and tragedies. The jug is exposed to royalty, to poverty, to cultural get-togethers, to domestic violence, to death in the family, to family disputes, to weddings, and more. From palaces, to slums, to theme parks and schools… life through the eyes of an inanimate object may be far more thrilling than realised. On a wider level, the little jug lives through two world wars, and other astonishing world-changing events, such as those on 9/11. The jug moves from Europe, right to the other side of the world, Australia. Here is its story. It needs to be told.
