The Last Bear on Brandywine Crick is the story of a pioneer Hoosier child and her pet bear Hopper as they spend their days together in the Hoosier woods encountering spirits, wunks, Indians, hags, witches, werewolves, mythical figures and imaginary beings. Samantha McIntosh Williams is a budding Hoosier author, age 12, in the sixth grade at Greenfield (IN) Intermediate School. She prides herself on having four dogs: Miya, Paris, Miley and a huge lab named “The Beast” as well as two cats: Peekaboo and Christmas, two goldfish and one white mouse. Besides her writing, she enjoys the Hoosier forested areas and seeks out its creatures. She resides with her grandfather in a huge three story Civil War epoch home filled with ghosts, spirits, wunks, and many fantastic figments of her imagination as well as attending the school of her isolated Hoosier county seat town. Her interest in Chester and York was aroused by a recent summer spent in England.
