Shortly after waking up one morning, fifty-year old Todd Meadows is confused by the mud smeared on his feet. An hour later two police detectives inform him that a security camera outside a local pub recorded him at the scene of a vicious attack the previous night. He can’t explain himself - because he was sleepwalking, again. He can’t believe he attacked someone, but weird behavior at night is familiar to him. Has his sleepwalking gone too far this time? Todd’s life unravels quickly as he is investigated by the detectives, his neighbors and the deans at the college where he teaches. To his students, though, Professor Meadows is a celebrity, a kind of shaman who visits the realm of shadows and brings back wisdom. Because dreams and sleepwalking often reveal buried truths, Todd must explore the secrets of his life at night. His tendency to talk his way out of problems fails him completely, and he is forced to confront what has been hidden in the night and in his heart. The only ones who can help him salvage his crumbling life are three close friends, whose loyalties are challenged by his erratic behavior.
